Albrecht Mayer – oboe
Andris Poga – conductor

Programme:

  • Pēteris Vasks – A Song of Gratitude (world premiere)

  • Pēteris Vasks – Oboe Concerto

  • Johannes Brahms – Symphony No. 4

We will celebrate the 80th anniversary of the sound magician and resident composer of the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra’s centenary season, Pēteris Vasks, in his birth month, in the concert hall most closely intertwined with his music – Cēsis Concert Hall.

Under the baton of Andris Poga, the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra will give the world premiere of the composer’s new work A Song of Gratitude. In the near future, the piece will also receive premieres in Australia, Japan, and Germany. Alongside it, the Oboe Concerto – first performed in 2018 by the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra under Andris Poga with the outstanding Albrecht Mayer as soloist – returns to the stage. On Vasks’ birthday, the musicians reunite to once again bring this masterpiece into the light.

Preschool-age children will not be admitted to the concert.
