Inese GALANTE, soprano
Daumants LIEPIŅŠ, piano
Aleksandrs KOMKA, piano
Gustavs KALĒJS, piano
This concert will see the talent of the famous Latvian opera diva Inese Galante, loved by listeners worldwide for her wonderful voice, velvety tone, nuanced pianissimo and dramatic depth, lit up brilliantly in a festive mood. The singer’s repertoire comprises some 40 leading operatic roles performed on the world’s most prestigious stages.
The programme in Cēsis will feature a number of arais from the popular operas like Verdi’s ‘Aida’, Hendel’s ‘Rinaldo’, Ciela’s ‘Adriana Lecouvreur’ and other masterpieces, inclouding wonderful ‘Ave Maria’ by Guilui Caccini.
More than a brilliant vocalist herself, Inese Galante is also well-known as a patroness of young talents. This night will be no exception: the singer will be joined on stage by three pianists of the younger generation: the already-acclaimed Daumants Liepiņš, Aleksandrs Komka, a prize winner at a number of competitions and still very young Gustavs Kalējs.
One of the most promising pianists of his generation, Daumants Liepiņš won the Vendôme Prize at the Verbier Festival (Switzerland) in 2019 and First Prize at the Maria Canals International Piano competition in Barcelona. After the release of Liepiņš’ solo album in 2022, critics described him as a sensitive and imaginative pianist who has mastered the full potential of the instrument, which allows him to strike a chord with every listener without an apparent effort.
Aleksandrs Komka, a prize winner at the Inese Galante’s Talents, Talent for Latvia and Teodors Reiters Foundation competitions, is one of the most visible young Latvian pianists. He has won first prizes at contests in Latvia, Lithuania, Sweden, Spain, Italy, Hungary and was awarded a Ministry of Culture Award for outstanding achievements in music.
