The concert marks a vibrant new chapter in the history of the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra with Tarmo Peltokoski, its new Music and Artistic Director from Finland, taking up the baton. This special evening will be our second opportunity to listen to the work of Krists Auznieks – this time, a light and warm musical painting entitled Grace. Jean Sibelius first conducted the Fifth Symphony on his fiftieth birthday, then revised it twice more, and on the evening of 19 November we will hear the final version. Meanwhile, Vaughan Williams' Fifth Symphony demonstrates finer orchestration than the previous four. Under Peltokoski's direction, the British composer's music will be explored twice on Latvian stages.
