PĒTERIS VASKS (1946) is one of the most loved Latvian composers in the world. He gained international recognition in the early 1990s with his first symphony Voices, which was commissioned from the composer by the Ostrobothnian Chamber Orchestra in 1991, and the release of the first CDs in Europe and North America. In time, Pēteris Vasks' musical compositions have only grown in popularity in the world, with commissions from several notable performers and ensembles, premieres in various countries, participation in international music festivals and workshop instruction. The music of Pēteris Vasks has been enjoyed not only in Europe, but also in America, Japan and Australia.
