DAGAMBA

Country: Latvia

In 2011 highly skilled academic cellist Valters Puce decided to establish a new band DAGAMBA. He invited his childhood friend, also a cellist, Antons Trocjuks to join the band. After few years of experimenting with different styles of music and instruments, in 2014, they met pianist Dainis Tenis and started to play together. In 2016, drummer Artūrs Jermaks joined the group. The newest member of the group, double bass player Alise Broka, joined in 2020.

DAGAMBA fuses musical cultures to form a unique and powerful sound. Exploring previously unchartered musical territory, they create a vivid and dynamic performance. Their music, arranged by Valters Puce and Dainis Tenis, is equally impressive both when playing Beethoven and rocking out to Led Zeppelin. Their performance is a mix of world, rock, pop and classical music.

Through the years, DAGAMBA has performed in 14 different countries (Austria, Australia, Belgium, Estonia, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom).  The biggest international achievements of DAGAMBA are participation in Glastonbury festival (UK), Eurosonic conference (NL), Waves Vienna conference (AUS), Waves Bratislava conference (SK), Positivus Festival (LAT) on the main stage, Christopher Summer Festival (LIT), Mix Festival (TUR), Zorlu Jazz Festival (TUR), etc.

Their passion for music and power of crossing the most unexpected boarders of genres has brought countless sold outs. This has been the motivation for the biggest step so far – upcoming solo concert with a program “DAGAMBA feat TCHAIKOVSKY” in the biggest venue in Latvia, Arena Riga.

All 5 DAGAMBA studio albums New life (2012), Recycled (2015), Seasons (2016) and #LudwigVanRammstein (2017) and DAGAMBA feat Tchaikovsky (2019) have been nominated for Latvian National Grammy award “Zelta mikrofons”. The #LudwigVanRammstein won the award in categories Best Album Design and Best Instrumental Music Album.
